How do you know if a commercial sign painter is good? Give him or her freedom to be creative!
That’s what motivates Terry Gest, one of Sign Effectz, Inc.’s seasoned sign painters. Give him the opportunity to get creative and good things happen. For example, the tiki torches we built and installed for the Love Shack, a Polynesia-inspired restaurant and lounge in Milwaukee, WI. Terry painted the faux torches with a bamboo finish. To the naked eye, it’s impossible to distinguish between real bamboo and the painted version!
Terry is also a natural problem-solver. That’s why he enjoys wiring electronic signs. According to Terry, “I enjoy the wiring, it can be therapeutic. Like solving a puzzle, you have to make sure everything fits! Assembling signs and seeing the finished product go out the door can be very rewarding.”
The sign industry has been a part of Terry’s life for 30 years. And he’s been in commercial painting longer than that, having painted everything from excavators to industrial power supply systems.
When he’s not at work, you might find Terry woodworking, refinishing old furniture from rummage sales or target shooting.
