At #SignEffectz, we like to show appreciation for our hardworking employees. Our July employee spotlight is for our Project Manager Nathaniel Bek. He has been with #SignEffectz for eight months now.
Nathaniel comes to #SignEffectz with a degree in Prototype and Design from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. His education is based on architecture, urban planning, manufacturing, and design. With a diverse resume in customer service, head estimator, and design, entering the sign industry is new territory but fits well with his background and experience in many different disciplines. He has a younger brother and a girlfriend with whom they share an adorable little mut, Nina.
Creative Solutions to “Impossible” Situations
What makes projects memorable in Nathaniel’s experience are projects that involve overcoming challenges through creative solutions, working in unique environments, and accomplishing projects that seemed impossible to others. Something as simple as a lit sign above a bar can seem like a nightmare for some sign manufacturers, installers, and project managers, when they are told by their client that there is no access behind the wall for wiring the sign, or has a 48-hour turnaround. But Nathaniel says, “Give me the wall, and we will find a way to wire it with no access.” Projects are memorable when others said it couldn’t be done, and #SignEffectz gets it done.
His most fun project was managing a project at the American Family Field for the Milwaukee Brewers. Nathaniel mentions, “An iconic like that is going to be hard to beat for a very long time!”
Life Size Wall-E
Some other fun facts about #SignEffectz Project Manager Nathaniel was when he was in college and created a life-size Wall-E which still resides today at the NWTC Campus. “On the day they released it to the school, a professor’s child was there, and she was so happy to meet Wall-E that she cried and ran up to hug it. It was a really special moment and a cool thing to build.” When he’s not working, you’ll find Nathaniel exploring the Wisconsin National Parks, creating art, or writing.
