Installing the Channel Letters
SoNa Lofts Channel Letter Project Complete!
Our channel letter project from the Mandel Group’s SoNa Lofts project is complete! In January, our #SignEffectz team created the channel letters overlaid with orange perforated vinyl containing little white dots, allowing the internal LEDs to illuminate white at night. Channel Letter Project Installation
We interviewed John Dolan, Install Manager, who completed the channel letter project in March. The main goal was to create a field structure for their staircase entrance. After surveying the area, they had to pivot and switch from mesh to a crossbar design behind the letters. Our Sign Effectz team is #BuiltForResilience, so this hurdle was easy to jump over.
Channel letters, commonly applied for exterior usage providing lasting appeal, can come in different illuminations. They can be face-lit, halo-lit, backlit, or a combination of illuminations. The #SoNaLoft channel letters are face-lit, allowing light to illuminate the front of the letters for a dramatic statement.
The installation took 6-7 hours. According to John, “The best part of the project was seeing the end product compared to the different version we started with. It was up and done, looked good, and the customer was happy with it, which is all we can ask for!” He stated, “It’s a win-win situation when the end customer, the Mandel Group, is happy.”
Being a “Sign Guy”
John Dolan has been in the sign industry for a while and being a “sign guy” is something he’s passing on to his child. “When you’re a sign guy, my wife and kid hear all about signs as we drive by them; what signs Sign Effectz has installed, signs we’ve touched, or signs that need to be serviced.” He takes pride when his child tells his friends about what his dad does, and then his friends think he’s cool! “Signs become part of you and your life!”
