At Sign Effectz, Inc., our greatest strength is our people.
From initial concept to seamless installation, every custom sign we craft benefits from the fresh perspectives and dedication of our team.
This summer, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on one of our brightest contributors: Maryam Boostani, a structural design enthusiast and engineering intern whose growth here exemplifies our commitment to developing young professionals for long‑term career fulfillment.
From Scholarship to Sign Shop
Maryam joined Sign Effectz on May 27, 2025, while pursuing her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee with a focus on structural design. She brings a rich academic background—bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering, research experience with composite materials, and project management roles abroad. Her previous internships in steel structure design laid the groundwork; here at Sign Effectz, she’s applying that expertise to real‑world sign manufacturing in Milwaukee.
“I’m passionate about creating meaningful things through design and engineering,” Maryam explains. “Whether it’s a bridge or a sign, I love seeing how a vision comes together to improve our everyday lives.”
Mentorship and Growth: A Win‑Win
At Sign Effectz, we believe that investing in emerging talent isn’t just good for our interns—it’s vital for the future of our industry. From day one, Maryam has been paired with experienced managers, receiving hands‑on training in structural sign design, fabrication techniques, and project workflows. In turn, her fresh ideas and academic insights spark innovation across our team.
“I’ve learned so much in a short time—especially how innovation and teamwork shape the final product.”
By providing structured mentorship, meaningful responsibilities, and exposure to every phase of our custom sign fabrication process, we ensure that interns like Maryam develop the skills, confidence, and professional network they need to thrive long after their time with us.
Designing Signs—and Careers—that Last
Maryam’s favorite part of her internship is seeing how a simple sketch transforms into a durable, on‑brand installation. She emphasizes that great signage blends functionality with aesthetics, communicates a clear message, and stands up to the elements—principles that also guide Sign Effectz’s approach to career development. Just as we build signs to endure, we aim to build career foundations that endure.
Looking to the Future
As Maryam continues her Ph.D. research and contributes to our projects, she’s already setting her sights on a career where engineering innovation meets practical application. We’re honored to play a role in her journey, equipping her with the real‑world experience and professional guidance that will shape her future success.
Outside of work, Maryam recharges by hiking, cooking, and exploring new landscapes—from the forests of Michigan to the coastlines of Southern California.
