Featured Employee – Josh Brown

Working marathon shifts, meeting tight deadlines for customers like Qdoba and installing unique monument signs are among Josh’s accomplishments at Sign Effectz. What’s the payoff for Josh? It’s the unique set of skills that not too many students his age have.

Josh Brown is a senior at Port Washington High School and has worked in various roles at Sign Effectz, Inc. One of his toughest gigs was the 19 hours he put in hand-painting a 40 foot mural in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward (“Choose a Positive Thought”). This large and detailed mural required precision. Once the paint is applied, there’s no easy way to take it off. To make things even more challenging the surface of the old office building was rough. According to Josh, “It’s very cool to see the mural design up on the wall of a three-story building, larger than life.”

When he’s not at work, Josh’s mind tends to be on business. His favorite TV show is “How It’s Made. He’s also involved in a competition program for young entrepreneurs called DECA. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.

Josh is also on the rugby team at his high school and is considering playing hockey. After graduation, he plans to attend UW-Oshkosh or UW-Whitewater for a business degree.
