What better way to welcome hybrid employees back to the office post-pandemic than with new illuminated, and interactive Daktronics signage? That is exactly what SoftwareONE, a Waukesha-based software, and cloud services provider did. SoftwareONE recently moved its office from Waukesha to a 20,000 sq. ft. workplace in The Dye House in Milwaukee’s historic Third Ward. They wanted a space compatible with its hybrid employees. The Historic Third Ward is a revitalized warehouse district popular for diverse eateries, unique boutiques, and art galleries.

We interviewed John Dolan, the Install Manager, and Nathaniel Bek, the project manager for #SignEffectz who created and installed their new signage.

The Installation Crew

John handles the install crews that go out to the sites to make sure they have the proper tools, hardware, and materials needed to do the job in an efficient time. He also coordinates with Nate Beck, the project manager for the exterior, with onsite contacts. For example, getting keyfobs to start their job, researching the product, and coordinating with the customer to make sure that what they have going into production is exactly what they’re looking for. Nate is the bridge between the sales department and the final product installation.

Completing the Interactive Signage

SoftwareONE wanted a large, interactive screen they could put video or pictures up for a seamless display. They also needed two exterior signs completed by #SignEffectz. The SoftwareONE signage took four guys and only a day and a half to install. Sound simple? Well, there’s a lot more detail that goes into the installation.

Installing Daktronics Signage

Installing Daktronics Signage

The signage had six independent structural frames, a cool illuminated halo effect around the perimeter that was installed, and, of course, leveled to perfection. The Daktronics interactive unit consisted of 144 LED panels at a 1.9mm pixel resolution. The bottom kicker plate was riddled with power supplies, ethernet communication cables, and a truckload of power connections on the backside. It’s a bit more complicated than just “throwing it up on the wall and screwing it down,” according to John. Nathaniel also mentioned, “It takes a lot of flexibility on our end, the client, and the supplier’s end to get the job done.”

Work with Pride

We asked John the best part of completing the sign for #SoftwareONE and he said, “The client’s face when they see the huge sign and how awesome it looks! I take a lot of pride in what I do for #SignEffectz.” Despite a few challenges, Nathaniel stated, “This project really showcased how our company is creative in finding solutions and the level of experience everyone has here at #SignEffectz.”

We can assure you that every project #SignEffectz acquires, is completed with accuracy and pride.
