At Sign Effectz, Inc., we’re always excited to welcome fresh talent—and this spring, we’ve had the pleasure of bringing on Michelle Markuson as our newest full-time designer. Michelle joined the team in April 2025, and she’s already making an impact with her thoughtful approach to design and passion for accessible signage.

A recent graduate from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, Michelle earned her degree in Design and Visual Communication along with a certificate in Digital Fabrication and Design. She made waves at UWM by winning the Milwaukee Panther Pale Ale label design competition—yes, UWM brews its own beer—and her winning design featuring the school mascot got plenty of praise.

Focusing on ADA-Compliant Signage

Michelle’s work at Sign Effectz focuses largely on ADA signage and interior wayfinding systems. “It’s cool to create signage that’s accessible to everyone,” she says. “Wayfinding helps people feel more comfortable in unfamiliar environments. That kind of functionality is what drew me to industrial and environmental design in the first place.”

She brings a unique blend of artistry and practicality to every project she touches. Michelle believes consistency and context are everything: “Good signage should feel like it belongs in the space—it should support the architecture and reinforce the brand.”

She’s a Movie Fan

When she’s not designing, you can find Michelle relaxing with a good movie or hanging out with her chihuahua. And while she doesn’t make as much personal art these days, her creative spirit shines through everything she does at Sign Effectz.

We’re thrilled to have Michelle on board. Welcome to the team!
