ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Print & Vinyl Graphics Technician is primarily responsible for pre-press, production of signs and printed graphics. Pre-press facilitation of the processes and procedures that occur between the creation of a print layout by graphic design and the final printing. Position includes manufacturing, vinyl cutting, digital printing, plotting and assembly.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Strong computer skills and confidence in dealing with multiple computer programs, Corel Suite, and Flexi Sign Pro
  • Reviews work orders to determine proper setup and operating procedures for digital printers
  • Operate plotter to precisely cut vinyl. Cutting substrates to size
  • Preflight and prep files for print and graphic production
  • Prioritize daily workload based on due dates
  • Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and to customer specifications
  • Prepare projects for digital printer output
  • Cut, weed, tape, and apply cut vinyl graphics to substrates with knives and other sign making/installing tools
  • Collaborate with graphic designers to provide technical guidance on optimizing artwork for digital printing, including file formats, resolution, and color profiles
  • Conduct color management processes, including color calibration, ink density adjustments, and maintaining color consistency throughout print runs
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, techniques, and advancements in digital printing technology

Key Qualifications

  • Experience working in a sign shop, specifically vinyl sign application using digital printer, plotter, and laminator
  • Digital Print Finishing- mounting laminating, trimming to finished size
  • Proofing, cutting, weeding, and application of vinyl and digital prints on small to large format substrates
  • Must have a keen awareness of basic sign rigid substrates (such acrylic, aluminum, and ACM)
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven graphic experience
  • Detail oriented with high quality standards. Able to review final layouts and suggest improvements
  • A keen eye for creativity and attention to details
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic math skills and able to read a tape measure
